Helene and William Shillington Fund and Harold D. Franks Fund of the Community Foundation of Broward has awarded CIL Broward $20,000 dollars in support of its health and wellness program, Living Well With A Disability. CIL Broward's Living Well With a Disability program is a 2015 recipient of Community Foundations' Ignite! Innovation Grant Award for the focus area of health and wellness. Living Well with a Disability is a health promotion and wellness program designed to assist people with disabilities prevent secondary conditions like obesity that often limit their abilities. Living Well introduces participants to tips and resources useful for healthy eating and exercise with an emphasis on goal setting, problem-solving, peer support, and advocacy. CIL Broward's Living Well "Be Healthy, Stay Fit" program is designed to empower individuals with disabilities in establishing healthy eating habits and incorporating exercise into their lifestyle.
Community Foundation of Broward's mission is to provide leadership on community solutions and foster philanthropy for people who care about causes that matter.
