Traveling By Airplane May Become More Accessible
The Center for Independent Living of Broward can help you understand how to self-advocate
The Center for Independent Living of Broward understands that traveling by airplane can sometimes be difficult for people with disabilities. After all, many of us visited other states during the Holidays. However, things may be changing soon.

Under a new federal proposal, "airlines would be required to improve accessibility for travelers with disabilities on more of their planes."

Currently, only airplanes that have more than one aisle need to have accessible bathrooms. However, the Department of Transportation said that single-aisle airplanes are being used more for longer flights.

Knowing the accessibility of your flight is important. The Center for Independent Living of Broward encourages you to find out as much information as you can. The Center can assist you in advocating for yourself to make sure your flight goes smoothly.

For more information about self-advocacy, please call the Center for Independent Living of Broward at 954-722-6400. You may also find  the accessibility information for the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport by going to the their website.
