LIVING WELL WITH A DISABILITY

LIVING WELL PURPOSE

The Living Well program promotes a healthy well being and lifestyle for adults at any age or limitation.  It's a struggle for most people in our society to build healthy lifestyles that include eating balanced diets, being physically active, engaging in stress-reducing activities, and preventing specific health problems.  Pursuing meaningful life goals is the cornerstone of the Living Well workshop.  This workshop can help individuals develop or maintain healthy goals and boost their capacity to achieve them.  Healthy goals turned into healthy habits can prevent many secondary conditions for people with disabilities where people with healthy lifestyles usually feel better.

LIVING WELL PROGRAM

The Living Well program is a two hour weekly workshop, of a five week series,  that covers topics ranging from nutrition counseling to food choices to meal preparation to physical activity.

Participants receive information on nutrition essentials, fitness tips, meal preparation, and committing to their lifestyle goals.  Participants work with a peer partner to complete fun interactive activities to increase their understanding of  their eating and fitness habits.  Participants receive a food/fitness journal to record their progress and are recognized for achieving their goals at the graduation presentation.
